Youth Beaten to Death Over Mobile Theft Dispute; Main Accused Arrested in Varanasi.
Varanasi: Rohania police acted swiftly in a murder case and arrested the named accused, Ramesh Patel alias Bablu, in connection with the brutal killing of a युवक following a dispute over mobile phone theft. The action was carried out as part of an ongoing campaign directed by the Police Commissioner of Varanasi to curb crime and apprehend wanted criminals.
According to police, on March 29, 2026, the complainant submitted a written report at Rohania Police Station alleging that her son, Sonu Ali, was severely beaten by Ramesh Patel and his associates over a mobile theft dispute. The assault led to Sonu Ali’s death.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections, and an investigation was initiated. Acting on a tip-off, the police team arrested the accused, Ramesh Patel (approximately 29 years old), a resident of Ghamahapur Hardattpur under Rohania थाना area, at around 8:35 PM on March 29, 2026, near the Ghamahapur railway crossing.
Police officials stated that the accused has a criminal history, with previous cases registered against him, including charges of attempted murder, fraud, and other serious offenses. Further legal proceedings are currently underway.
The arrest was made under the leadership of Rohania Station House Officer Raju Singh, along with other members of the police team, who played a significant role in the operation.
