Condolence Message on the Demise of Iran’s Supreme Leader; Appeal for Peace
— Shashank Shekhar Tripathi

Varanasi: Shashank Shekhar Tripathi, Convenor of the BJP Legal Cell, Kashi Region, and Senior Vice President of the Banaras Bar Association, has expressed deep sorrow over the reported demise of Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran.
Mr. Tripathi stated that the passing of any global religious figure is a sensitive and solemn moment for humanity. He appealed to members of the Shia community in India to express their grief peacefully and with dignity.
He further said that every citizen of India stands in solidarity during this sensitive time. The Indian ethos has always been rooted in coexistence, compassion, and social harmony, and it is our collective responsibility to uphold these values.
Responding to queries regarding the declaration of national mourning, Mr. Tripathi clarified that such decisions fall within the policy and diplomatic domain of the Central Government. He noted that following the demise of Ebrahim Raisi, the Government of India had declared a one-day national mourning, as he was a sitting elected President and thus accorded the protocol status of a Head of State.
Mr. Tripathi emphasized that India’s foreign policy has consistently been guided by constitutional values, diplomatic maturity, and secular principles. He urged that such matters should be viewed through the lens of social harmony and national unity rather than political considerations.
