Cleanliness Drive Held at Assi Ghat Ahead of PM’s Visit

Varanasi: A joint cleanliness drive was organized at Assi Ghat on Sunday by Mahila Bhumihar Samaj and the Namami Gange team ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. Women volunteers, along with Namami Gange workers, cleaned the riverbank by removing polythene, clothes, and other waste polluting the Ganga.
Participants raised slogans promoting cleanliness as a cultural value and took a pledge to maintain hygiene. Students from Sant Atulanand School also joined the campaign. A Ganga Aarti was performed, and awareness placards were displayed.
Namami Gange Kashi coordinator and Swachhata Brand Ambassador Rajesh Shukla emphasized that cleanliness is essential for a developed India, while Dr. Rajlakshmi Rai, President of Mahila Bhumihar Samaj, highlighted its importance for a healthy and prosperous nation. Several members and local residents actively participated in the drive.
