Varanasi Meat Ban Decision Welcomed by Dr. Geeta Rani
Varanasi: Dr. Geeta Rani, National Vice President of the Women’s Wing of the Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh, has welcomed and appreciated the decision of the Varanasi Municipal Corporation to impose a complete ban on the sale of meat and fish within the city limits.
In a statement issued from Varanasi, Dr. Geeta Rani said that Sanatani organizations have been demanding a ban on the sale of meat and fish in the holy city of Kashi for several decades. She stated that devotees and tourists from across India and abroad visit Varanasi to seek the blessings of Lord Kashi Vishwanath, and the open sale of meat in the city’s streets and lanes often causes inconvenience due to foul odor and unhygienic conditions.
She expressed confidence that the meat ban decision would help preserve the sanctity of the city and contribute to making the holy abode of Lord Shiva cleaner, more beautiful, and more welcoming for pilgrims and visitors.
Dr. Geeta Rani further said that the move reflects respect for the religious and cultural sentiments associated with Kashi and will strengthen the city’s image as one of the world’s most revered spiritual destinations.
