Vishwanath on June 25

Varanasi: A grand Kalash Yatra will be organized on June 25 on the auspicious occasion of Nirjala Ekadashi under the joint aegis of Suprabhatam and Kashi Mokshadayini Seva Samiti. The procession will begin at 7 a.m. from Rajendra Prasad Ghat and proceed via Godowlia and Bansphatak to the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, where devotees will perform Jalabhishek and Dugdhabhishek.

The yatra will commence with Ganga and Kalash worship led by Vedic scholar Amarkant Ji and chief patrons Mayank Maheshwari and Tanushree Maheshwari. Attractions will include damru players, conch-blowers, a PAC band, a tableau of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati on Nandi, and devotional music groups.

Several dignitaries, including MLA Neelkanth Tiwari and VDA member Ambrish Singh ‘Bhola’, are expected to participate. Organizers said the tradition, started in 1999 under the inspiration of a Shankaracharya, promotes cultural unity by symbolically connecting the twelve Jyotirlingas of India.
