Kashi Gears Up for Cricket Extravaganza: Rotary Premier League from April 1

Varanasi: The spiritual capital of India, Kashi, is all set to witness a grand confluence of sports and social service with the ‘Omega Plus RPL 3120 (Rotary Premier League)’ organized by Rotary Club Banaras. The tournament will be held from April 1 to April 5, 2026, at Dr. Sampurnanand Sports Stadium, Sigra, in memory of Late Dr. Nand Lal Agrawal.
The league will be inaugurated on April 1 at 5 PM by Member of Parliament and अभिनेता Manoj Tiwari as the chief guest. A total of 16 teams will participate, with matches scheduled daily from 6 AM to 9 AM and from 6 PM onwards. League matches will follow a 10-over format, while the semifinals and finals will be played as 12-over games.
The winning team will receive a cash prize of ₹51,000, while the runner-up will be awarded ₹25,000. Semifinalist teams will each receive ₹15,000.
Club President Rotarian Vijay Jaiswal stated that the league is not just a sporting event but a platform to promote youth talent, sportsmanship, and positive social energy. The initiative also aligns with the government’s ‘Khelo India’ vision to encourage youth participation in sports.
Honouring Former Players & Special Women’s Match
On April 4, former senior players from across the country will be felicitated for their contributions to the sport. The grand finale will be played on April 5, followed by an awards ceremony honoring the winning and runner-up teams, along with individual awards such as Best Player, Best Batsman, and Best Bowler.
A special women’s match will also be आयोजि Organized on April 5 to promote women’s empowerment and encourage their participation in sports.
A Commitment to Social Service
Beyond cricket, the event carries a strong social mission. Rotary Club Banaras aims to provide free medical assistance and artificial limbs to nearly 500 दिव्यांग (specially-abled) individuals.
Rotary District Governor Dr. Ashutosh Agrawal emphasized that the league will serve as a powerful platform to promote service, cooperation, and positivity in society. Chairman Manish Pandey and Chief Advisor Alok Parikh also shared plans to expand the league to a national level in the future.
