STF and Cantt Police Bust Major Drug Racket in Varanasi, Seize 107 Kg of Ganja
Varanasi, April 26: In a major crackdown under “Operation Chakravyuh,” a joint team of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Cantt Police Station uncovered an interstate cannabis smuggling network and arrested one.
The arrested has been identified as Ajay Giri (42), a resident of Mau district. Police recovered 107.140 kilograms of illegal ganja, estimated to be worth around ₹25 lakh, along with a four-wheeler vehicle used in transportation and two mobile phones.
The operation was carried out in the Imliya Ghat area under the Phulwaria locality. Officials stated that the was actively involved in interstate drug trafficking.
A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further legal proceedings are underway. Authorities are also investigating possible links to a larger smuggling network.
