SP Disturbed Over Division of Vishwakarma Votes, Using Ram Asrey for Political Gains: Ashok Vishwakarma
Varanasi: National President of the All India United Vishwakarma Shilpkar Mahasabha, Ashok Kumar Vishwakarma, has said that the Ghazipur Nisha Vishwakarma death case has significantly impacted the caste-based political equations in Uttar Pradesh. He claimed that both the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are witnessing growing unease and political activity to consolidate Vishwakarma community votes.
Ashok Vishwakarma alleged that in view of the issue, the BJP appointed a Vishwakarma leader as minister, while the SP leadership made political statements to attract community support. Referring to SP chief’s remark that “whenever Ram Asrey enters the struggle, SP forms the government,” he said the reality is completely different.
He stated that during his tenure in the SP, Ram Asrey never allowed any other person from the Vishwakarma community to emerge as a leader. He further alleged that incidents of oppression against the community increased during SP governments. According to him, even today the SP lacks a second-rung Vishwakarma leader.
Ashok Vishwakarma said that after Hansraj Vishwakarma was made a State Minister, a significant section of the Vishwakarma community appears inclined towards the BJP. However, he maintained that the community’s votes remain divided among various political parties.
Commenting on Hansraj Vishwakarma’s political journey, he said that his ten-year tenure as BJP district president cannot be termed particularly beneficial for the Vishwakarma community. He added that the community would now assess his performance as minister, which could have a substantial impact on the upcoming Assembly elections.
He concluded by saying that political awareness and understanding within the community have increased, and the Vishwakarma society is carefully observing every political development before making its own decision.
