Varanasi; GAIL Expands Clean Energy Network

Varanasi: GAIL (India) Limited has achieved another milestone in expanding clean, safe, and affordable energy under the Varanasi City Gas Distribution (CGD) project. In this direction, Piped Natural Gas (PNG) supply has been successfully commissioned at Vatsa Residency, located in the Chandpur Industrial Area, and the establishment has been connected to the PNG network.

Vatsa Residency, a newly established commercial hotel and one of the prominent establishments in the area, will now benefit from uninterrupted and efficient gas supply. The PNG service was formally inaugurated by Sushil Kumar, General Manager (GM), GAIL (India) Limited and Head of Varanasi CGD.

On the occasion, key officials present included Nawazish Ali Ansari (Deputy General Manager), Praveen Gautam (Chief Manager – Marketing), who leads marketing activities in Varanasi, Debashish Sahu (Senior Officer – Marketing), and Sumit Sagar (Senior Engineer).

Officials highlighted that earlier the hotel consumed approximately 30 LPG cylinders per month for its operations. With the commencement of PNG supply, the dependency on LPG cylinders has now been completely eliminated. This transition will help make LPG cylinders available for other users and enhance overall distribution efficiency.

The adoption of PNG will provide the hotel with continuous and reliable gas supply, improved safety standards, reduced operational costs, and an environmentally friendly fuel alternative. Additionally, it eliminates the challenges associated with storage, transportation, and handling of LPG cylinders.

The move is also expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions, contributing to environmental conservation. Connecting this commercial establishment to the PNG network marks a significant step towards extending clean energy solutions to commercial consumers in Varanasi.

This initiative reflects GAIL’s commitment to promoting green and sustainable energy, supporting hotels, catering units, and other commercial establishments in transitioning towards cleaner fuel options, and contributing to making Varanasi a more eco-friendly city.
