Digital Census-2026 Launched in Varanasi, Mayor Becomes First to Self-Register

Varanasi: The country’s first Digital Census-2026 was formally launched in Kashi, with Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari becoming the first citizen of the city to complete the self-registration process. The Mayor filled in his and his family’s details online through the official census portal at his Sigra residence.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Sangam Lal, Zonal Officer Mrityunjay Narayan Mishra and other officials were present during the launch of the campaign.

Appealing to residents of Varanasi, the Mayor urged citizens to complete their self-enumeration on the portal before May 21. Meanwhile, Cantt MLA Saurabh Srivastava also participated in the campaign by completing his “self-census” registration at his residence.

According to the Municipal Corporation, citizens can visit the official self-enumeration portal and answer 33 questions to complete the form online. After submission, an 11-digit SE ID will be generated, which must be shown to census enumerators during verification.

The administration has assured that all information provided by citizens will remain completely confidential and secure.
