Varanasi: The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in collaboration with the Varanasi Municipal Corporation and Swiggy, has launched the “Taste of Varanasi with Swiggy” initiative. The programme was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on June 12.
Under this initiative, popular delicacies from 12 renowned food establishments of the city—including Kashi Chaat Bhandar, Chachi Ki Prasiddh Kachori, Laxmi Chai, Pahalwan Lassi, Gama Paan Bhandar and Pathak Ji Thandai Wala—will be made easily accessible to both tourists and local residents. Representatives of the participating establishments were honoured with certificates by the Tourism Department during the launch event.
As part of the programme, specially designed traditional food carts will be installed at prominent tourist locations such as Namo Ghat, Assi Ghat and Dashashwamedh Ghat, allowing visitors to experience the authentic flavours of Varanasi.
Speakers at the event said that the initiative aims to promote the city’s rich culinary heritage while providing greater visibility and new business opportunities to local food entrepreneurs.
