Varanasi: Rising boxing star Rishi Singh of the Mahadev Surya Vinayak Boxing Academy has been selected for the Indian Senior Boxing Team. He will represent India in the 50kg weight category at the Senior World Cup-2, scheduled to be held in China from June 15 to June 21.

The selection has brought immense pride and joy to sports enthusiasts and athletes in Varanasi. Rishi recently emerged as the National Champion in the 50kg category, securing the top position in the country through his outstanding performance.

Earlier, he won a medal at the Youth World Cup in the United States and also clinched a gold medal in the recently held All India Inter-University Boxing Championship, further establishing himself as one of India’s most promising young boxers.

Coming from a humble family background, Rishi’s journey is a remarkable story of determination, hard work, and perseverance. Raised by his grandparents, aunt, and elder sister, he overcame personal challenges and, under the guidance of his coach, developed into a successful boxer with several national and international achievements to his credit.

Notably, some time ago, MLC Brijesh Singh announced his support for Rishi’s development and future prospects.

Pramod Kumar, General Secretary of the Boxing Federation of India, also congratulated the boxer and his coach, wishing them success in the upcoming tournament.

Shashikant Pandey, Chief Patron of the academy, congratulated both Rishi and his coach and expressed confidence that the young boxer would deliver an impressive performance in China and bring further glory to the nation.
