Banaras Cricket Association Purvanchal Trophy Inaugurated at BHU
CIMS Wins the Opening Match.
Varanasi: The Banaras Cricket Association Purvanchal Trophy, organized under the aegis of Adarsh Foundation De-addiction Centre, was inaugurated today at the Ruiya Ground, Banaras Hindu University (BHU). The tournament was formally inaugurated by the chief guest Anurag Dwivedi, along with special guests Arvind Srivastava (former Ranji Trophy player) and Sanjay Dwivedi, who introduced themselves to the players and encouraged them.
Several prominent sports enthusiasts from Banaras city were present on the occasion, including Pramod Rai, Manoj Srivastava, Dr. Dheeraj Singh, J.P. Sonkar, Gautam Rai, Iklakh Ahmed, Buddhi Ram, and national-level scorer Nandu Yadav, among others.
The opening match of the tournament was played between Raj English School (CIMS) and NER Allahabad. After winning the toss, the CIMS team opted to bat first and was bowled out for 121 runs in 20 overs. Siddharth scored 27 runs while Vaibhav contributed 26 runs for the team. From NER Allahabad, Prince took 4 wickets and Siddharth claimed 3 wickets.
Chasing the target, NER Allahabad was bundled out for 105 runs in 19.5 overs. Sanskar scored 21 runs and Prince added 20 runs for the team. For CIMS, Arya and Akash took 3 wickets each, helping their team secure a 16-run victory.
Sanskar of Raj English School was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
The guests were welcomed and felicitated by the organizing secretary Saroj Rai, a former BG Trophy player.
