100+ Ayurvedic Surgeons Participate in CME Workshop on Modern Surgical Techniques in Varanasi.

Varanasi: A one-day workshop and CME (Continuing Medical Education) program for Ayurvedic surgeons was organized on Sunday at Royal Hospital, Avleshpur, Chitaipur, under the joint aegis of the NIMA Surgical Society, Uttar Pradesh. More than 100 Ayurvedic surgeons from various districts of the state participated in the program.
The main objective of the workshop was to update MS (Ayurveda) Shalya degree holders with the latest developments and modern techniques in the field of surgery. According to the organizers, such workshops are conducted every two months, where doctors receive training through live surgical demonstrations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions with experts to address their queries.
Ayurvedic surgeons from around 13–14 districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh attended the program. Many of them are running advanced hospitals in their respective districts, while some are serving as professors in the Faculty of Ayurveda at Banaras Hindu University and in various government Ayurvedic colleges across the state. These physicians are also providing affordable surgical treatment to poor and needy patients, particularly in remote areas.
The chief guest of the program was Bhadohi MP Vinod Bind, while the special guest was Regional Ayush Officer (Varanasi–Chandauli–Bhadohi) Dr. Arvind Singh.
Prominent members present at the event included NIMA Surgical Society National President Dr. Raman Singh, Uttar Pradesh Unit President Dr. Anand Vidyarthi, Vice President Dr. Arun Singh, Secretary Dr. Manoj Kumar Yadav, Treasurer Dr. Annie Tripathi, along with Dr. Raghvendra Rai, Dr. Rajeev Singh, Dr. Shivji Gupta, Dr. Hariom Singh, and Dr. P. S. Pandey, among other senior doctors.
A key highlight of the workshop was the live demonstration of around 9–10 complex surgical procedures. These included laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic hernia repair, open hernia mesh repair, and surgeries for complex fistula, fissure, and piles.
The anesthesia for all surgical procedures was managed by Dr. P. S. Pandey and Dr. Hariom Singh, specialists with an MD in Ayurveda (Anesthesiology) trained at the Faculty of Ayurveda, Banaras Hindu University.
At the conclusion of the program, the organizers emphasized that such training initiatives aim to upgrade Ayurvedic surgeons with modern surgical techniques and ultimately provide better treatment facilities for patients.
