Women and Children Sensitized on Heat Wave Prevention in Varanasi

Varanasi: In view of the rising temperatures and increasing threat of heat waves, an awareness programme and Swarn Prashan camp was organized at Sanvi Multispeciality Hospital and Surya Children’s Hospital in Varanasi. The initiative aimed to educate women and children about protection from heat stroke and other heat-related illnesses.

On the occasion, pediatric specialist Dr. S.K. Tiwari and surgeon and Swarn Prashan expert Dr. Sharmila Tiwari advised women and children to take special precautions during extreme heat conditions. They suggested avoiding direct exposure to sunlight, drinking plenty of water, ensuring children wear light cotton clothes, and maintaining a healthy diet to prevent heat stroke and dehydration.

During the programme, free health check-ups for children were conducted and information regarding Swarn Prashan was shared with parents. Around 150 children received Swarn Prashan at both hospitals.

Dr. S.K. Tiwari stated that Swarn Prashan helps in boosting immunity and enhancing intellectual development in children. He added that it is considered beneficial in reducing the risk of developmental issues such as delayed speech, autism, and dyslexia. According to him, it may also help in protection against illnesses like dengue, Covid, flu, encephalitis, recurrent chest infections, allergies, and asthma.

Women attending the programme were also encouraged to reduce children’s screen time and focus on their mental and physical development. Experts emphasized that a balanced routine, nutritious diet, and regular health check-ups are essential for the healthy growth of children.
