Cholapur Police Achieves Major Breakthrough in ‘Operation Chakravyuh’
Seven Notorious Criminals Arrested with Illegal Firearms and Ammunition Under SHO Sadhuvan Ram Gautam’s Leadership
Varanasi: In a major success under the ongoing anti-crime campaign of the Varanasi Police Commissionerate, the Cholapur Police, in a joint operation with the Special Operations Group (SOG), arrested seven notorious criminals involved in the illegal trade of firearms and ammunition. The action was carried out under “Operation Chakravyuh” led by Station House Officer (SHO) Sadhuvan Ram Gautam.
Acting on a tip-off, the police team laid a siege near the underpass behind Katari Block and successfully apprehended the accused. During the operation, police recovered one .32 bore revolver, two pistols, one country-made firearm, 13 live cartridges, a stolen motorcycle, and six mobile phones of different brands from their possession.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Akhilesh alias Monu Rajbhar, Arun Rajbhar, Himanshu alias Sunny, Abhash Singh, Vishal Singh, Aniket Chauhan, and Naman Mishra. Police officials stated that several of the accused have previous criminal records, including cases related to murder, theft, the Gangster Act, and the Arms Act.
The operation was conducted under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Varuna Zone) and the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sarnath. The successful crackdown is being regarded as a significant achievement in the fight against organized crime and illegal arms trafficking in the region.
Police have registered cases against the accused under the Arms Act and other relevant sections of law. Further legal proceedings are underway, and efforts are being made to identify and arrest other individuals linked to the illegal arms network.
