Director General (AYUSH Department), Uttar Pradesh Inspects Sowa-Rigpa Facility.

Varanasi: Chaithra V, Director General of the AYUSH Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, today inspected the Sowa-Rigpa Hospital at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS), Sarnath. She was warmly welcomed by Registrar Dr. Sunita Chandra, who presented her with a traditional khata and a memento.
During the visit, the Director General stated that the objective of this traditional medical system is to provide safe, accessible, and quality healthcare services across the country through indigenous medical practices.
Prof. Damdul, Head of the Sowa-Rigpa Department, explained that Sowa-Rigpa, also known as the Tibetan system of medicine, focuses on eliminating diseases at their root through natural methods, diet, lifestyle modification, and traditional medicines, while promoting holistic physical and mental well-being. He added that this ancient system is considered particularly effective in the treatment of chronic ailments such as asthma, arthritis, and bronchitis.
Chairperson Prof. Tashi Dawa highlighted the traditional importance of herbal medicines in the Sowa-Rigpa system.
On this occasion, Deputy Registrar Dr. Himanshu Pandey, Assistant Registrar Sunil Kumar, Dr. Sumil Tiwari, Dr. A.K. Rai, along with other officers and staff members, were present.
