Four Arrested in Theft Case; Stolen Iron Rods, Cash Recovered in Varanasi

Varanasi: Kapsethi police successfully solved a theft case and arrested four accused, recovering 13 iron rods (Kamdhenu brand), ₹20,020 in cash, two mobile phones, and a Bajaj Discover motorcycle from their possession.
The action was carried out under a special drive launched on the instructions of the Police Commissionerate, Varanasi, to curb crime and criminal activities. The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Gomti Zone), Additional DCP, and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rajatalab, with the Kapsethi SHO leading the team.
Sub-Inspector Abhishek Kumar Tiwari, along with his team, was on patrol near Takkhu Ki Bauli, Bhishampur Gate, when they received a tip-off from an informer. Acting on the information, the police conducted a raid near a garden along the Arjunpur–Adma road and arrested the four accused—Pramod alias Shakkal Patel (29), Shamser Patel (26), Khettan Patel (29), and Kisan Patel (28).
During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing iron rods loaded on a pickup vehicle from the Arjunpur area. They later sold the stolen rods to Kisan Patel at a throwaway price of around ₹90,000. The recovered cash of ₹20,020 is said to be the remaining amount from the deal, as the rest had already been spent.
Police stated that all procedures during the arrest were carried out in compliance with the guidelines of the Supreme Court and the Human Rights Commission, and the families of the accused have been informed. The accused have been sent to court for further legal proceedings.
A case (No. 028/2026) has been registered at Kapsethi Police Station under Sections 303(2), 317(2), and 317(5) of the BNS. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the criminal history of the accused.
