Varanasi Social Worker Alok Parikh Honoured by Governor for Contribution to Arts and Culture

Varanasi: Prominent social worker Alok Parikh from Varanasi was felicitated by the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel, in recognition of his significant contribution to the promotion of art and culture.
The honour was conferred during the week-long Golden Jubilee celebrations of Bharatendu Natya Academy held in Lucknow from April 5. On the sixth day of the समारोह, Friday, the grand auditorium of the academy witnessed the presence of the Governor along with Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who jointly presented an angavastram and a memento to Mr. Parikh.
It is noteworthy that Alok Parikh has played a pivotal role in nurturing artistic talent in Varanasi and Purvanchal between 1996 and 2017. Through initiatives like the “City Mahotsav,” he provided a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talent. He also contributed to promoting regional talent by facilitating their participation in popular television reality shows such as Sa Re Ga Ma and Close Up Antakshari, helping them gain national recognition.
In 2017, when Varanasi was declared a “City of Music” by UNESCO, Mr. Parikh organized the remarkable 43-day “Sur Ganga Mahotsav” in the city. The event featured renowned classical artists, Bollywood personalities, and budding local performers, offering them an exceptional cultural platform.
Following this honour, social workers, artists, business leaders, and well-wishers across Varanasi expressed their खुशी and congratulated Mr. Parikh on his achievement.
