Tribal Community Playing a Crucial Role in Building New India: Ranjana Chopra

Varanasi/New Delhi: Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Ranjana Chopra, has said that Birsa Munda was not merely a freedom fighter but a symbol of tribal pride, equality, and rights. She noted that after the Prime Minister declared Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, tribal culture and heritage have gained renewed recognition across the country.

Chopra informed that during the Tribal Pride Year celebrations, more than two lakh programmes were organized nationwide, engaging over three crore people. She highlighted that initiatives such as scholarship schemes for tribal students, the expansion of Eklavya Model Residential Schools, and the promotion of Van Dhan Vikas Kendras are strengthening education, employment opportunities, and women’s empowerment in tribal communities.

She further stated that more than 10.5 crore tribal citizens are making a significant contribution to the vision of a developed India. Emphasizing the enduring relevance of Birsa Munda’s ideals, Chopra said his legacy continues to inspire tribal communities to progress and actively participate in nation-building.
