Minor Girl Rescued Within 24 Hours, Accused Arrested in Varanasi
Varanasi: Kapsethi police successfully rescued a kidnapped minor girl within 24 hours and arrested the accused in connection with the case. The action was taken under a campaign against crime and criminals being run on the instructions of the Police Commissionerate Varanasi.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Station House Officer Sadhuvan Ram Gautam arrested the accused, Majnu alias Ritesh (19), a resident of Shahshahpur under Rajatalab police station area, on Saturday around 2:10 PM from in front of Paramhans Ashram in Bhishampur. The police also safely recovered the 15-year-old victim (name changed) from his custody.
The accused was wanted in case number 34/2026 registered under sections 87/137(2) of the BNS at Kapsethi police station. Police said all legal procedures were followed during the arrest and the accused has been sent to court.
The rescued girl has been kept under the supervision of the women help desk and her family has been informed. Further legal action is underway.
