Kanchi Kamakoti Peeth’s 68th Shankaracharya Paramacharya’s 133rd Jayanti Celebrated in Varanasi

Varanasi: The 133rd birth anniversary of the 68th Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peeth, Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Swamigal, is being celebrated with various religious rituals at the ancient Kanchi Kamakotishwar Temple.
The event, organized by Guru Charan Seva Samiti, includes Maharudra Jap Havan, Shatachandi Jap Havan and spiritual discourses on “Vedarthanusandhan” by Yativarya Paramhans Parivrajak Amritanand Saraswati Sanyamindra Swami. Daily rituals such as Kanya Pujan and Suvasini Pujan are also being performed. Discourses on the divine teachings “Daivathin Kural” of Kanchi Mahaswami are being delivered by Saraswati from Coimbatore.
The organizers, R. Narayan Ghanapathi, V. Chandrasekhar Dravid Ghanapathi and K. Kaushik Sharma, said the celebrations are being held in the sacred city of Varanasi with the blessings of Lord Vishwanath and the tradition of Adi Shankaracharya. The program is being conducted with the blessings of Jayendra Saraswati, Shankar Vijayendra Saraswati and Satyachandrashekharendra Saraswati.
On March 9, a grand procession and Jal Vihar Seva of Mahaswami will take place on the Ganga from Shivala Ghat to Rajghat at 5 pm. The concluding ceremonies on March 10 will include Gopuja, Ashwa Puja, Maharudra Dashansh Homam and Shatachandi Homam, followed by Purnahuti rituals at 11 am. A grand procession will be held at 5 pm, followed by scholars’ felicitation and blessings at 7 pm.
Several devotees and dignitaries including V.S. Subrahmanyam Mani, V.S. Chandrasekhar, Anant Bhatt, Sai Kumar, Lokesh Shringi, Abhay Pathak, Venkatesh Raghavan and Balendu Nath Mishra were present during the event. Women devotees also actively participated in the celebrations.
