Brick Kiln Communities’ Voices Take Center Stage in Climate Dialogue

Varanasi, May 30: The program “Scorching Kilns, Changing Climate: Grassroots Stories and Climate Dialogue,” organized under Chambal Media’s Buniyad Initiative, highlighted the experiences and concerns of brick kiln workers and climate-affected communities.

The event brought together journalists, climate experts, researchers, and community representatives to discuss the interconnected issues of labor, migration, health, gender, caste, and climate change. Through a film screening and a roundtable discussion, participants shared ground-level realities and challenges emerging from the growing climate crisis.

Speakers emphasized that climate change should not be viewed solely as an environmental issue, but also as a matter of livelihoods, social justice, and equality. They stressed the need to amplify the voices of affected communities and ensure their concerns are given greater representation in policy-making and public discourse.

The dialogue underscored the importance of inclusive climate conversations that place vulnerable communities at the heart of solutions and decision-making processes.
