Agriculture Minister Reviews Kharif Preparedness, Directs Timely Supply of Fertilisers and Seeds

Varanasi: Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi reviewed the preparedness for the upcoming Kharif season during a joint meeting with officials of the Agriculture and Cooperative Departments from Varanasi division, comprising Varanasi, Chandauli, Ghazipur and Jaunpur districts.

The Minister assessed the progress of fertiliser availability, certified seed distribution, Kisan Credit Card (KCC) applications, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), and various ongoing agricultural schemes.

Emphasising the need for timely support to farmers, Mr. Shahi directed officials to ensure the uninterrupted supply of fertilisers and quality seeds, maintain strict vigilance against black marketing, and expedite the disposal of pending KCC applications. He also instructed departments to maximize farmer enrolment under the crop insurance scheme by July 31.

The Minister further stressed the importance of achieving 100 percent data updation on the UP Agris Portal and called upon Agriculture and Cooperative Department officials to work in close coordination, giving top priority to Kharif season preparations.

Senior officials from both departments, along with the Vice-Chancellor of the Agriculture University and other concerned officers, were present at the meeting.
