Prof. Rajesh Shah Honoured with Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Excellence in Sitar
Varanasi: Prof. Raje sh Shah, Head of the Instrumental Music Department at the Faculty of Performing Arts, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), and a renowned sitar maestro, has been conferred the Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in recognition of his outstanding academic and artistic contributions to the field of sitar music.
The award was presented by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak during a ceremony held at Jan Bhavan in Lucknow. Expressing his gratitude, Prof. Shah attributed the honour to the inspiration of Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, the rich traditions of BHU, and the unwavering support of the university fraternity.
The recognition has brought immense pride and joy to the university community, students, and the wider music fraternity, who have lauded Prof. Shah’s dedication and significant contribution to Indian classical music.
