State U-20 Handball Championship Begins in Varanasi
Varanasi: The State-Level Under-20 Boys Handball Championship-2026 commenced on Sunday at Varanasi Public School, Kerakatpur (Lohta), under the joint aegis of the Uttar Pradesh Sports and Education Council and the Uttar Pradesh Handball Association.
The three-day tournament has brought together over 150 players, coaches, and officials from various districts and divisions across the state. Uttar Pradesh Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH and Food Safety, Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’, inaugurated the event.
In the opening match, Ghaziabad defeated Sant Kabir Nagar by 21-15 to register the first victory of the championship. Organizers said the tournament aims to provide young players with a platform to showcase their talent and progress to higher levels of competition.
